Founder’s Story
I have always wanted to start a business that would benefit my home and improve my community’s livelihoods…this is my story.
I come from a humble background and my late parents were farmers growing mainly groundnuts, beans, green grams, maize, and sweet potatoes. They would sell the produce to the local market but these would fetch very little money that was not comparable to the hard work that they’d put in the farming process. This scenario is replicated with other farmers practicing organic farming who put in a lot of effort but end up selling at low prices.
It’s against this backdrop that I drafted a proposal on Organic Farming; a proposal that would provide a path for the smallholder farmer to meet the market and sell their farm produce at good prices which would translate to an improved livelihood. My mom being my backup helped in putting the basics together which included seed selection, the right time to plant and weed and harvesting while at the same time talked to fellow farmers on moving away from subsistence farming to commercial farming. To make this initiative a success my mom and I put up model farms that we planted sorghum, sunflowers and groundnuts all for commercial and with little steps we are opening the community to the local market
Our approach is different: we are farmers working with other smallholder farmers for bulk production of organic crops and as we work in providing good organic crops we are slowly but surely concentrating on oilseeds.
Our mission is to provide healthy farm produce to our markets and through this initiative we will be creating a cycle that will see our farmers’ lives improving. What better way than to come together, it’s what drives us to be better today and beyond!
